October Wrap Up

This month was a pretty good reading month! I got to read a lot of books I've been looking forward to for a while.

The first book I finished was An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. This book was not what I was expecting, but in a good way! The world building was great and the pacing kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I got serious Goblet of Fire vibes, which I love! The only thing I didn't love about this book were the characters. They fell flat to me. Especially Laia. She made so many stupid YA Fantasy mistakes. Rushing into situations without thinking of the consequences, constantly putting other people in danger, and falling into a predictable love triangle. I don't care for those kinds of characters. Elias is no better, but Laia is the one that stuck out to me. Over all I gave the book 4 stars! I plan to continue on!

The next book I finished was Big Little Lies by Lianne Moriarty. I've been desperate to read this book ever since the HBO series was announced and I finally found it at a library book sale for $.50! Overall this book also was not what I was expecting! The characters in this book were my favorite part! The mystery was great as well, and the ending I didn't see coming! She did very well with writing this book, and the plot and characters seemed very natural. One thing I didn't like were the little chapter interview things. They were annoying and seemed like a tease! 4 stars:)

The next book I finished was You by Caroline Kepens. This book I've had for a while and I was saving it for October. Another book I did not expect! This book was so creepy and strange. She did a really great job emerging us into the mind of a psycho stalker by telling the story in second person. This is not a book I see myself reading again, or a genre I will read a lot from. The characters were not likable, even the victim! I like to have a sympathy or relate to at least one character in a book, so I gave this 3 stars. If you are at all interested in the premise I would say give it a chance. There is a lot of language and adult themes so just be aware of that!

The last book I read this month was The Elite by Kierra Cass. I barely made it, but I spent all night on Halloween finishing the last 200 pages! It is such an easy read, so that helped! I found myself extremely frustrated with America in this book. I heard it was the worst in the series, but I just got so so frustrated! She is just so fickle! Like every other chapter she loved a different guy! I can't stand it! I want to read the next book but I might have to binge read it as well cause I can't draw out the drama! I definetly liked the first book better. I'm interested to see who she picks cause I really don't know at this point... I still like the Prince! So we will see!

Over all not a bad reading month. I was so close to finishing Cress by Marissa Meyer but I didn't make it:( stay tuned for my November TBR! I'm very excited for those books! Have a great week!!
