This was a pretty good reading month for me! I read 4 full books and I am a little over half way done with a fifth one. I gave all of the books this month about 4 stars, which is so great. So, let's get into the wrap up!

The first book I finished this month was Truthwitch by Susan Denard. This is a fantasy novel with a pretty cool magic system. I first saw this book on booktube. Everyone was raving about it because of the female friendship. That aspect of the book was really great! I haven't read too many fantasy books that had a positive female friendship, so I'm glad that this is a quality one!

Another really great aspect of this book is the magic system, like I mentioned before. The witches in this book have different kinds of power. Some of the "witchery" are Truthwitch ,which means they can tell when people are telling the truth. Threadwitch, someone who can see the bonds and relationships people have. Windwitch, someone who can control winds. Bloodwitch, someone who can control and smell peoples blood. So, the idea isn't necessarily original but the spin on the kinds of powers are different. Sort of X-Men with a twist. I usually enjoy super power books so this one was no exception. Overall, I gave this book a 3.75, basically 4 stars. I totally recommend it if you are interested!

The next book I finished this month was House of Hades by Rick Riordan! Another Percy Jackson book under my belt! I hope to finish this series before the year is over! (fingers crossed)! I didn't love this book as much as I thought I would... It just seemed like it was going on forever. I mean I knew what was going to happen in the end, but it took like 500 pages until I was confirmed. But, other than that I loved being back in this world. I'm loving all of the couples and the plot is getting thicker and thicker. Some really interesting news with Nico was revealed that was unexpected. Maybe because I always think of him as that little kid who loved those cards, but he's growing up and becoming something completely different and I've got to accept that. It's just really sad because he's going through it by himself and he's changing based off of his horrible circumstances and not for the better it seems. So, I hope in the last book their is some light for Nico. Overall I gave this book 3.75-4 stars. If you haven't read Percy Jackson or the Heroes of Olympus I totally recommend that you check them out!

The next book I finished this month was The Girl in 6e by A.R. Torre. This book is so different than anything I've ever read before. It's about this girl who is obsessed with murder, so in order to protect the world from her "urges" she locks herself up in an apartment and vows to never leave. And that's not it! She's got to pay rent and utilities and have food, so to do that she signs up to be a cam girl. Yeah, so I got to read about the business of cam girls and about sociopathic urges and wrapped up in all of that is a mystery. So, I know I kind of made it sound cheesy, but it was actually interesting and probably the fastest read I've had in a while. I feel like if you are at all interested you should totally read it, but just know it is a lot. Definitely new adult, so in movie ratings: R. Overall I really liked it. I found it a little predictable at times, with the mystery aspect. I found the murderous "urges" to be a little strange, besides the obvious strangeness that is murder (you'll just have to read it to know what I mean). But, if you can get over that I feel like you will enjoy it! Again, I give it about 3.75-4 stars.

The final book I completed this month was The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner. I got off to a rocky start with this book. It read very predictable and young to me. The characters seemed like archetypes, not people. But, after about 75-100 pages and adjusting to the world, I really liked it. This is a beautifully tragic coming of age tale. It takes place in the south, which hits home with me, and it shows these three unlikely friends as they prepare for their lives after high school. The friends represent a lot of different people you might come across in the south or really anywhere else. Lydia, a rich girl that can't wait to move on to bigger and better things. Travis, a boy obsessed with a fantastical world (gave me game of thrones vibes) that his father will never understand, and hates him for. And Dill, a preachers kid who is coming to terms with being stuck in his miserable town with the reputation his father left him when he got put in jail. I just feel like these characters are so relatable. They have unique and different perspectives on what they can control and how they can succeed that is so fresh in a contemporary. I recommend this book to all high school and college students! I wish I read this when I was in high school. I gave this book 4 stars.

So, that's it! That's my first wrap up, seven days late! I almost finished a fifth book, but I will save that for October! Check out my goodreads for further reviews of all these books except for House of Hades. I hope you enjoyed! Keep a look out for my October TBR! Have a great week:)
